A Bit About Commission Pieces.

I am always excited to build a custom banjo to someone’s unique specifications. I really like being able to be a part of someone owning their dream instrument, and there’s something about creating art for an artist who uses my work to bring joy into the world. My commission process is pretty straightforward…

If you’d like to talk about custom instruments, please feel free to drop me a line to my gmail account. It’s ftwbanjos@gmail.com. I’m usually pretty good about quick response times, and I always enjoy talking about banjos. Maybe too much….

Anyhow, after we arrive with a general notion of what we can do, I typically like to give a call on the phone, just to get a good feel for some specifics of what you might want and to discuss any design nuances. After that, I send a contract that calls for a 50%, non refundable deposit to cover materials and some labor. Then I start building, Along the way, I like to make it a point to keep you up to date and in the loop with the building process, so I often send photos of your banjo as it comes together, I also like communicating to ask for your preferences when options are available. This is your banjo, and I want you to have some say in its genesis.

When we hit the home stretch, I reach out to let you know, and we can start to plan for final payment and shipping, which you’ll cover.

Right now, I tell folks my turn around time is approximately 3 months. That being said, it doesn’t typically take me that long, but I would much rather you be excited about an early finish than being dissatisfied that I didn’t keep my deadline. I can be pretty streamlined, but sometimes things happen and I like to give a buffer against disappointing someone.

And that’s it in a nutshell. Thanks for taking the time to visit my humble little site and considering making Fare Thee Well your next heirloom quality instrument.
