A Little About FTW
I’m Jason, I’m the hands behind Fare Thee Well Banjos.
If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably ended up captivated by the five string banjo.
I’m very largely self-taught, and my work is a continually evolving process. I built my first banjo in 2021 from a kit I received in the mail, and found the process to be both fascinating and demystifying once I learned how a banjo goes together.
While my finished work is highlighted in the Shop, this section will be used to document some of the “behind the scenes” of my banjo building process.
One of the more exciting things I’ve learned so far is that the devil is in the details. A lot of things I’ve learned came at the cost of having made a mistake, and fixing it the next time around. I’ve also been blessed by a handful of skilled builders who were kind enough to share their wealth of knowledge. When I reached out, they’d say “don’t do that!” and saved me a lot of heartache. I hope to pass along the same support and knowledge to fellow builders.
